Flash Player Troubleshooting

Downloading and Installing the Flash Player

To download and install the Flash Player for your operating system and browser, go to the Adobe Flash Player Download Center

Testing the Flash Player

To test your Adobe Flash Player installation, go to the Adobe Web Players page.

Flash Player Troubleshooting

Sometimes, problems with a Flash Player that's already installed can prevent your upgrading to the latest player. You can resolve almost all difficulties by taking the following steps:

  1. Check the system requirements to ensure your configuration is supported.
  2. Make sure you have the latest version of your Internet browser. Installing a new browser can often repair issues with browser installations, and newer browsers may also offer improved security.
  3. Download the desired browser installer to your desktop, but don't run the installer yet.
  4. Uninstall Flash Player.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. If you downloaded an installer for your Web browser in Step 1, run that installer now and follow its instructions. Restart again if prompted.
  7. Finally, download and install the Flash Player from the Adobe Flash Player Download Center.

General Troubleshooting

Active Content

Restricting scripts or ActiveX controls can make surfing the Internet safer, however DiscoverWare products use active content to deliver course information.

By default, Internet Explorer has built in security that may generate a warning message to the user when using DiscoverWare active media products. To enable active content in your browser, complete the following steps when prompted (see screenshots below):

  1. Click "Click here for options..." (screenshot 1a)
  2. Click “Allow Blocked Content” (screenshot 1b)
  3. Click "Yes" (screenshot 1c)

After choosing one of the course titles, you will get the same warning messages. Again, complete the preceeding steps to enable active content in your browser. Finally, click "OK" as shown in screenshot 1d.

1. Click the 'Volume' icon in your taskbar tray and use the slider to adjust the volume. Also ensure that the 'Mute' check box is not selected.
2. Or, double-click the 'Volume' icon in your taskbar tray and check the volume level of the 'Wave' setting in the 'Volume Control' panel.
